A Day at the Museum of the Moving Image

An evening at the Museum of the Moving Image, a fascinating place filled with fun and knowledgeable exhibits. So far I have only read and heard about all the past Film making techniques and cinema’s infant history. Seeing that early history in front of my eyes was an experience of its own. although, there weren’t as many exhibits as I had expected, rather, I found it to be very small contribution to the vast history of cinema. Nevertheless, I had great experience walking though all three floors with props and actual pieces of films set, makeup, drawings, costumes, etc on display.  One of my favorite exhibits at the museum was the Director's live broadcast room of sports game. As I am more interesting in learning about Directing and cinematography, it was interesting to see what goes into broadcasting a live game for millions to watch. One wrong move on Directors' end, and it can lead to millions of people being upset for missing a big play. While it is very engaging job, it does come with a lot of pressure as everything is happening live, the director has to hit the nail every time. Another exhibit i found fun to play with was the stop-motion animation. I spent good amount of time on stop-motion animation, where I made at least 10 different animations videos, since you’re only allowed to make 10 seconds of video. Over all it was a wonderful short experience, I think for being the only museum about cinema in New York City, it should house more exhibitions from actual film sets and TV Shows. This seemed like a small contribution to what is universally recognized as great modern art.
